Learning Bridge

Monday 5-7PM (Grades K-3), Tuesday 5-7PM (Grades 4-12)

We support refugee students from local schools through tutoring/mentoring that teaches academics as well as life skills and emotional support. We seek to build intentional relationships, meeting the students where they are at, with patience and love.

Our goal is to

  • Love students with the love of Christ

  • See students succeed academically, thus giving hope to them and their families for their future

WOMEN’S Driving

Thursdays 11-1:30PM

We teach refugee women how to drive, starting with passing the permit test, in order to build friendships and create a community of women.

Our goal is to

  • Empower women to experience independence and freedom

  • Connect Afghan and American women in community

  • Show the love of Christ tangibly by meeting practical needs

Women’s Sewing

Fridays 10AM-12PM

We teach sewing skills, including how to use and maintain American sewing machines to Afghan women through a class model.

Our goal is to

  • Create supportive relationships with Afghan women and with American friends, and with each other

  • Empower women towards engaging in meaningful roles and income opportunities in and out of the home

Men’s English

Saturdays 10AM-12PM

We help Afghans to learn English through conversation by choosing topics that help them understand our culture and our faith. We share meals together with Afghan food and take field trips together.

Our goal is to

  • Build friendships with the guys and they with one another, providing a sense of belonging.

  • Provide a culturally sensitive environment and show respect to them as individuals and their culture, while also exploring questions of culture and faith
